FAQs
The main difference between a regular barbell and a powerlifting barbell is the technical characteristics, which influence performance during specific exercises.
Diameter : Typically a barbell has a diameter of 28mm while a powerlifting barbell has a larger diameter, usually 29mm to offer greater grip and resistance.
Flexibility : A regular barbell has moderate flexibility, useful for a variety of exercises. A powerlifting barbell is less flexible, designed to withstand very heavy loads without bending, optimized for squats, bench presses, and deadlifts.
Bar knurling: While a classic barbell has a less rough surface, designed for comfort during exercises like Olympic lifting, a powerlifting barbell has a rougher surface, to improve grip during heavy-load exercises.
Bearings : A regular barbell often has bearings or bushings that allow for smooth rotation for Olympic exercises (snatches and cleans). A powerlifting barbell has less prominent or absent pads, since rotation is not necessary for powerlifting exercises.
Load Tolerance : A regular barbell has a lower load tolerance, suitable for general use. A powerlifting barbell is designed to support much higher loads, often over 1,000-1,100 pounds, with greater strength and durability.
In short, a powerlifting barbell is built to last under extreme weights, with a design that promotes stability and grip, while a regular barbell is more versatile, but less specific to heavy lifts.
The main difference between Men's and Women's barbells concerns size, weight and technical specifications, designed to adapt to different usage needs:
Length : The men's barbell is generally longer (220 cm), while the women's is shorter (200 cm), making it easier to handle.
Weight : The Men's barbell weighs 20 kg, while the Women's barbell weighs 15 kg, to better meet the needs of training and competition.
Bar Diameter : The Men's powerlifting barbell has a diameter of 29mm, while the Women's is thinner, with a diameter of approximately 25mm, to ensure a more comfortable and secure grip.
The minimum flexibility of a powerlifting barbell is essential to ensure stability, safety and strength when lifting heavy loads. A rigid bar offers greater control, avoiding bends that could compromise the trajectory of the barbell and reduce the risk of injury. It also ensures a long life of the barbell, maintaining its shape even under extreme loads.
Unlike many other finishes applied to the outside of steel, this barbell is treated with a multi-stage chemical process that improves both its wear resistance and corrosion resistance. The process hardens the outside of the steel, making it extra tough, while also leaving a nice shiny finish. The barbell will be more resistant to corrosion than other finishes and will not wear as easily, as it is not a coating and therefore cannot chip.
The difference between conventional and graphite bearings is mainly based on the materials used, their properties and areas of application.
Traditional bearings : These are generally made of steel, ceramic or bronze. They often contain steel balls or rollers and an outer ring that rotates on an axle that should be specially lubricated.
Graphite Bearings : These are made of graphite or a combination of graphite and other self-lubricating materials. Graphite is a solid material with inherent lubricating properties, so they do not require external lubrication. They are more durable in dusty or corrosive environments, as graphite is less susceptible to damage from contamination. They also operate very quietly due to the natural lubrication of the graphite itself, and tend to be more expensive initially, but maintenance costs are lower.
The knurled markings allow athletes to position themselves correctly for weightlifting and provide a complete and uniform view of the hands on the bar. These specifically meet the standards of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF).
When your barbell arrives home, it will have a light coating of oil on the shaft and sleeves, which is to protect the barbell during shipping. After a few uses, this coating of oil will begin to dissipate, however, if desired, it can be cleaned using a rag and a disinfectant cleaner that does not contain harsh chemicals (such as bleach, ammonia, alcohol, or peroxide). Finally, apply a protective coating of a spray-on deoxidizer that has excellent water-repellent properties.
We have conducted extensive salt spray testing to ensure industry-leading performance and unmatched rust resistance.
The main difference lies in the thickness of the coating and the resulting wear resistance.
Regular chrome is the shiny finish you find on car rims, musical instruments, tools, and hardware. It offers good rust resistance but is more prone to wear and flaking over time.
Hard Chrome is most commonly used in industrial applications requiring high wear resistance. It is much stronger and less likely to flake or deteriorate than regular chrome.
The knurling style indicates the characteristic pattern that is applied to a particular barbell, and serves to improve the grip during training.
Our barbells offer three types of knurling: hill , volcano and mountain .
The hill is a more passive style, non-abrasive on the hands and ideal for training bars. Perfect for those training with moderate loads or for long sessions, where comfort is a priority.
The mountain is the most aggressive style, designed for powerlifting bars. It offers the most secure grip for tackling maxes or extreme loads, and is ideal for those looking for maximum control during exercises.
The Volcano is the most common style of weightlifting barbell and is ideal for mixed use. It provides excellent grip without being overly abrasive and perfectly balances grip and comfort, making it the most versatile choice.
Our barbells are designed to be compatible with all standard plates with 2 inch (50 mm) diameter center holes.
If the sleeves seem to be scratched, wipe them down with a cloth and they will be as good as new. The coating is so tough that it can actually remove material from the inside of the discs, but the sleeves will not scratch or chip.
This barbell is designed to last for many years with minimal maintenance. Simply apply our deoxidizing spray lubricant every 2-4 weeks with excellent water-repellent properties, useful for removing moisture from the treated surfaces, and providing a long-lasting protective action.
To clean dirt or chalk from the knurling you can also use a brush and finally apply our lubricant.
This barbell is designed for athletes who appreciate refined details and are willing to invest a little more to have a product designed to last for many years, which never goes unnoticed in any gym.
This is a high-end barbell, equipped with premium features, fully compliant with the standards of the International Powerlifting Federation (IPF), and further distinguishes itself with the specially designed customization options, which establish a status of excellence for those seeking the ultimate in performance and design.
