Flooring: The Safe and Professional Foundation for Every Fitness Area
A truly effective workout starts with the floor: density, shock absorption, grip, and sound insulation influence performance, equipment longevity, and—most importantly—safety. Today, every reputable gym (and increasingly home gyms) installs dedicated surfaces made of rubber, foam, or synthetic grass to protect athletes, equipment, and the structure.
Why choose a shock-absorbent floor?
- Absorbs impacts – Barbells, plates and dumbbells can be dropped without damage.
- Reduces slipping : High grip texture even in humid or sweaty environments.
- Dampens noise and vibrations : Ideal if you have neighbors or other adjacent rooms.
- Preserve your flooring : Whether you own or rent, avoid costly repairs to your original flooring.
- Gives identity to the environment : Customizable with colors, logos and functional graphics (lines, numbers, start/finish).
The main Ironside Armour lines
- Rubberized flooring: Thicknesses from 10 mm and up, designed to "drop" barbells and give the gym an elegant look. Smooth and waterproof surface, high strength and durability, perfect for indoors and outdoors.
- Tatami: Soft, thin puzzle tiles that create comfortable surfaces for exercise rooms, cardio areas, and home gyms.
- Sound-absorbing mats: High-density foam layer coupled with rubber: reduce vibrations and noise in condominium settings.
- Technical platforms: steel or bamboo frame, with a rubber central section, useful for specific weightlifting training.
- Synthetic grass: Roller for sled-push, sprint and conditioning, but not only, also to beautify your training area.
- Cardio mats: Compact size for workouts such as abdominal exercises or under rowing machines, bikes or treadmills: protect your home parquet floors and dampen vibrations.
Variants
- 1cm Thickness : Ideal for home gyms and small workout spaces. It offers good grip and protection for bodyweight exercises, moderate weights, and cardio equipment, without being too thick or bulky.
- 2cm Thickness : Perfect for commercial gyms and personal training studios. It provides an excellent balance of shock absorption and durability, protecting the floor from free weights and heavy equipment while providing good sound insulation.
- 3cm Thickness : The best choice for heavy lifting and weightlifting areas. Designed to absorb the impact of loaded barbells and repeated drops, reducing noise and vibration, protecting both the floor and equipment.
How to choose the right flooring
- Define your primary activity: Do you drop barbells? Go for 20–50 mm of dense rubber. Do you run courses? 10–15 mm jigsaw puzzles will do. Need silence? Add sound-absorbing foam.
- Indoor vs. outdoor: Smooth, closed surfaces for interiors; draining grain for exteriors.
- Think about the thickness and fixing : self-supporting interlocking tiles or panels to be bolted?
- Consider aesthetics : Logo, colors, start/finish lines, or track numbers.
- Maintenance : Dedicated floor cleaning machines keep the area hygienic and long-lasting.
Practical use
With a good rubber floor you can:
- Drop weights without fear.
- Push sleds or plyometric boxes, move benches and racks without scratches.
- Perform jumps, burpees, and sprints with joint cushioning.
- Mitigate the noise of cardio machines in your apartment.
- Set up multi-surface areas: thick rubber under the rack, synthetic grass for sleds, tatami for grappling.
Ironside Armour will always be by your side, offering solutions for every need: from home gyms to professional facilities.
